A Very Active First Term

We have started off the new school year on a very active note. We are lucky to have Noelly Cross from Leinster Rugby visiting our school every Monday to teach us some rugby skills. We hope to be able to take part in some blitzes this year.

We have also taken part in two athletics days in Avondale so far this year. The first was the cross country relay event and we are super proud of how the St. Saviour's athletes got on. We had two teams bring home medals! Well done to the 4th class girls team made up of Charlotte Doyle, Sophie Rhatigan, Isabel Barrett and Emma Byrne and the 6th class girls team made up of Isabel Doyle, Aoife Fitzgerald, Edie Lorinczi and Lucy Rhatigan. We had a great morning running and well done to everyone who took part.

The second athletics event of the year took part on the 16th of October. This event was a 3km trail run. All of the children from 3rd - 6th took part in this and completed it however they chose. Some ran, some jogged and some walked. It was a really super event that we are delighted to have been a part of. Again we were so proud to bring home some medals. Congratulations to Isabel Doyle (1st girl overall and 1st 6th class girl), Charlotte Doyle (1st 4th class girl), Emma Byrne (1st 3rd class girl), Isabel Barrett (3rd 3rd class girl), Luke Joynt (1st 5th class boy), Turlough Devitt (2nd 5th class boy) and Rhys Tuckett (2nd 3rd class boy). We were also delighted to bring home a plate awarded for the best overall girls. This was a very long and challenging run, well done to all who completed it!

Thank you to Wicklow Invitational Athletics who organise all the different events during the year.

Our infant classes have also started back at GAA with Catherine and we are looking forward to the rest of the school starting again soon.

5th and 6th class have been taking part in Pilates classes every Thursday with Zara Elkinson. They are really enjoying doing something a bit different for PE!

We are continuing with Walk On Wednesday this term for as long as the weather allows. We have been really lucky to have been able to do it every Wednesday so far! As with last year we have two groups walking to school, one from the RDA Hall and one from the Mill. Hopefully we will be able to walk on a few more Wednesday's after Halloween also.
